A natural gas pressure regulator (also known as a gas pressure regulator or pressure reducing valve) is a pressure regulating valve device for gas transmission and distribution networks that maintains stable downstream pressure regardless of changes in gas flow rate and upstream pressure. It is mainly used in industrial users, city gate stations, building units, and LPG cylinder depots. Its core function is to automatically regulate the gas flow rate to maintain stable outlet pressure when inlet pressure fluctuates or flow rate changes, and to limit downstream pressure to a safe range (closing pressure ≤ 1.15 times outlet pressure) through a safety shut-off device in case of failure. In 1999, China developed and manufactured its first domestically produced gas pressure regulator integrating two-stage pressure reduction, venting, and shut-off.

This deviceuses spring stiffness adjustment technology, featuring high pressure stabilization accuracy (±5%~±15%) and strong flow adaptability. It can adapt to operating conditions with inlet pressures of 0.02~6.4MPa and outlet pressures of 1.0~30KPa, with a maximum nominal diameter of DN300. Installation requires vertical fixation and configuration with a control ball valve, pressure gauge, and safety relief valve. It supports pipe diameters from DN25 to DN200 and operates at temperatures ranging from -20℃ to +60℃. The product is available in both direct-acting and indirect-acting types, integrating pressure regulation and safety shut-off functions, and is suitable for box-type or wall-mounted pressure regulating systems. Related technologies continue to evolve, resulting in numerous patents in areas such as airtightness testing, leak prevention, pressure acquisition, and improving gas utilization. Regarding application and maintenance, some cities have launched special programs to upgrade and replace pressure regulators for older equipment that has been in operation for many years.
